At Sheridan College, creativity is not treated as the end result, it’s what drives them forward. It’s built intentionally into their curriculum — not as a final outcome, but a skill students can practice and carry into any field.
Known globally as Canada’s Creative Campus, they’ve built their reputation in animation, design, and film. But creativity isn’t confined to those disciplines. It shapes how students write code, run clinical simulations, and apply AI to real‑world problems. Across every faculty, Apple provides a foundation that can keep pace as students move seamlessly across campuses, from exploration to production.

Students at the Oakville campus Learning Commons can work on Mac stations equipped with industry‑ready apps at any time. -
With standardized device management and 12 on‑site Mac technicians, students can move between workstations and continue where they left off. -

iMac supports the full digital fabrication workflow — students can design and sculpt 3D models to print, assemble, and finalize in the prop shop. -
Students develop AI and mobile computing solutions at the Centre for Applied AI, which offers 19 MacBook Pro with Pro Display XDR, enabling faster LLM execution than standard PCs.
For more than 25 years, Mac has been the backbone of creative, technical, and applied learning across the college, giving students access to industry‑standard technology, apps, and workflows their programs depend on — from Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365 to specialized software used in each field. Mac integrates smoothly with third‑party tools, and provides the reliability that students and faculty depend on.
Behind that experience is the Mac Tech Team — a small group within Sheridan’s broader IT department that manages 1,400 Mac devices across the college, including 56 iMac and Mac mini stations where any student can sit down and pick up right where they
left off.

In the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology’s Mobile Computing program, MacBook Air is the recommended device for students. Its power, performance, and ability to create with ease all support a full development workflow.
MacBook enables students to learn multiple programming languages like Python, C#, and Kotlin, while using professional development software like Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code to develop solutions that can connect to cloud services or integrate with cognitive computing platforms.
As they build for different operating systems, they’re able to influence the world using code, functional design, and community connection.
When students see their work running on a real device, something changes. It stops feeling like an assignment and starts feeling like a product someone could actually use.

At the Centre for Applied AI, students work directly with industry leaders and community organizations to understand complex needs, and then develop solutions and prototypes that they present to the people they’re designed to serve. They’re not just learning about emerging technology, but leading with it. Mac is integral to the curriculum, helping students turn complexity into something tangible: a tool that people can understand
and use.
This approach extends across Sheridan, including the Faculty of Animation, Arts, and Design, where students use Mac with professional apps like Logic Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Blender — the same tools they’ll encounter in the industries they’re preparing to enter.

In Ubiquitous Design, students use Terminal on MacBook Pro to run a local LLM on Raspberry Pi. -
Students use the LiDAR and the Scanniverse app on iPad, to capture depth, scale, and form scans to turn into 3D models. -
Interaction Design student Justin Luke uses Blender on iMac, where he can clean meshes, rebuild geometry, and improve topology on his assignments. -
Students also bring in their personal MacBook. Mikaela Cartiz modifies an existing 3D mesh file for her assignment. -
In Technical Production, students use 3D product development apps on MacBook Pro to learn the connection between digital design, material choices, and live performance needs. -
Students develop and pitch their Capstone Projects on Mac to industry professionals, strengthening their leadership and critical thinking skills.
Sheridan has an international reputation in animation, design, and film. Alumni have gone to work at studios including Disney, Pixar, and Ubisoft. One graduate also co‑directed KPop Demon Hunters, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature
in 2026.
The ability to explore, iterate, and take creative risks is part of what prepares students for professional practice.

In the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies, creative thinking is crucial in a different way. Nursing and EMT students train with iPad alongside Laerdal patient monitors to practice decisions they’ll eventually have to make in real clinical settings.
Recognizing the need for more immersive, hands‑on clinical practice, Sheridan developed an AI‑powered virtual patient experience for Apple Vision Pro to strengthen learning outcomes for Gerontology and Personal Support Worker students. The simulation lets students interact with virtual patients whose conditions, personalities, and needs can change from one scenario to the next. It provides a safe way to practice clinical judgment, communication, and clinical decision‑making before making these consequential decisions in the real world.
Technology isn’t replacing human care. It’s helping students prepare for it.
